The Mottingham Village Concert Band
Welcome to the Mottingham Village Concert Band, we hope you enjoy your visit and look forward to hearing from you.
The Band practises at The Maryfield Hall, Leysdown Road, Mottingham, SE9 (next to the Church of Our Lady Help of Christians). Rehearsals are held on alternative Wednesdays during term time between 7.45p.m. and 9.45p.m.
If you would like to know more then feel free to come along to one of our practice sessions; or, email Tony at mvconcertband@gmail.com for further information. The band is under the direction of the well-known conductor, lecturer and professional musician, Leslie Lake.
Besides our fortnightly practices, we enter into a number of musical engagements linking our local community. For example, each year we give an Easter Concert, which has a classical and religious theme, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church or at Eltham College Chapel. At that time we also play for the Good Friday Service held by the Churches in Mottingham.
During the summer we are engaged to play in The Pleasaunce Park, Eltham and the Mottingham Village Festival outside St. Edward The Confessor church. As the occasion demands we also play at various Garden Parties.
The autumn functions commence with the Remembrance Day service held at the Mottingham War Memorial in November and in December we perform a traditional Christmas Concert.
So, not too demanding a commitment but a choice of engagements that will give pleasure to both performers and listeners alike!
